These Are Signs That Your Car’s Engine Cannot Be Repaired

Some people get attached to their cars and never want to get rid of them. If you are one such person, Anderson Automotive advises that there will come a time when the engine can no longer be repaired. When this time comes, you don’t have to get rid of your car. Rather, you can have a new engine dropped into it to restore its operation.

Consistent Power Loss

One sign that it is time to replace the engine is if the engine no longer produces power. Your automobile is a machine and all machines have limited lifespans. Once the original engine in your car, truck, or utility vehicle reaches the end of its life, no amount of repair work will cause it to generate power. This is a sign that you need a new engine in the vehicle.

Constant Overheating

If the engine is overheating every time that you drive your vehicle, you may have a cracked engine block. This cannot be repaired. If the overheating is being caused by a cracked head gasket or exhaust manifold gasket, we can rebuild this portion of the engine. A cracked engine block means the cylinders and other combustion chamber parts are damaged.

Engine Knocking Sounds

Part of what can damage the engine block is worn rod bearings. The rod bearings move the rods up and down in the cylinders. Attached to each rod is a piston. If the bearings are worn and the rods are not moving straight up and down, you may hear a constant knocking sound coming from the engine that is actually the pistons clanking against the cylinder walls. Broken rods also damage an engine beyond repair as can a broken timing belt.

Excessive Engine Exhaust

Another thing that points to a serious engine problem is excessive exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe(s). Excess exhaust is caused by fluid. In other words, if you assume for the moment that you have black exhaust coming out of the tailpipe like a smokestack, your engine has a serious fuel leak. Blue/gray exhaust is an indication of a serious oil leak. White exhaust points to a serious coolant leak.

Metal in the Motor Oil

Finally, your engine cannot be repaired if you have metal flecks in the motor oil. In addition, your engine will break down within a few hours after the metal circulates through the engine. The metal is engine parts that are disintegrating into the motor oil. There’s no repair for that.
